What is School?

Children's Education - Are you informed?

Do you know the schools’ curriculum in kindergarten through high school?

Lisa Merle (mother of six), excerpt: “Canadians, working together as neighbours, and together in this moment across the nation of Canada, we are demanding an end to gender theory in public education. The rational Common Sense ones are telling us that they don’t want to apply gender theory in schools. That they believe parents are more than capable of talking to their children about gender issues 100% of the time. Family status is a protected attribute in Canada. You may not be discriminated against because of who you are related to. It’s critical to remove gender ideologies, all associated language, all associated imagery and paraphernalia from Canadian schools immediately. Faye Johnstone (trans activist and national board member of the YWCA of Canada) is delivering gender ideology directly into every one of Canada’s 1,000 YWCA child care centers. So that removes the conversation about parental consent, this is not about parental consent, this is about Parental Authority. Every parent is perfectly capable of enforcing their own children’s Charter Rights until they’re 18. Schools are not the arbiters, parents are! This is not about parental consent, it’s about what we want for Canada. What do we want for Canada? Do we want this? Or, do we want what we know to be true? Parents must assert their authority and demand a seismic shift in what they deem appropriate. Parents are abandoning public education in droves.

We need to be the voice for our children and protect them from harmful content/teaching.

Children are currently being exposed to explicit learning materials and books. The content of some of the materials include inappropriate ideologies on gender identity, anti-racism and anti-hate. A few brave parents, teachers and trustees do not agree with this agenda to teach these ideologies in the classroom They are being shut down, suspended, cut-off and cancelled. There are numerous examples of this across the country. “The school system is now a centralized, bureaucratic fortress that, every year, becomes softer on standards for students, less accessible to parents, further out of touch with communities, and surprisingly unresponsive to classroom teachers. Paul W. Bennett advocates for a new set of priorities: decentralize school governance, deprogram education ministries and school districts, listen to parents and teachers, and revitalize local education democracy.” ~ The State of the System: A Reality Check on Canada’s Schools. There are many options for alternative education, such as learning pods, home-schooling, unschooling and private schools (see below).

Dec. 23, 2022 – Video – Chanel Pfahl is a high school teacher in Ontario who in 2021 found herself under investigation and suspended from her position by her school board for some fairly innocuous comments she made in a private Facebook group. Her “harmful” comments: suggesting that schools should not be indoctrinating school children with Critical Race Theory, and that if CRT is to be taught it should be offered alongside other views. She has been outspoken about the dangers of indoctrination and the need for schools to be non-partisan and balanced. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAiX4HwixzA
Oct. 19, 2022 – Chanel Pfahl: “It is my belief that our schools should prioritize core skill development (reading, writing, math, science) and most importantly, critical thinking skills. Unfortunately, as a teacher I have seen first-hand that activism in the education system has resulted in teaching approaches that in my view are ultimately harmful to students and society. The current unhealthy fixation with gender, identity politics and victimization will not put our students in a position to face the challenges of the next decades. As trustee, I will look for opportunities to bring students, teachers and administrations together in pursuit of their core mission of delivering educational excellence.” https://ottawacitizen.com/opinion/ocdsb-candidates-pfahl-lets-get-back-to-common-sense-at-school

July 7, 2022 – Hi, I’m Chanel Pfahl. I’m a teacher under investigation for opposing critical race theory on a Facebook group. I’ve had enough of woke ideology. It’s time to get courageous and speak the truth. This is the video version of an article I wrote on April 13, 2022. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzCHvgSxaM4
Apr. 13, 2022 – This is a guest post written by high school teacher Chanel Pfahl. She can be found on Twitter @ChanLPfa. Just a few years ago, a teacher proclaiming that “all children should be treated equally” or that “all lives matter” would have received enthusiastic nods from fellow educators. Today, the situation is so vastly different that such statements can easily put one’s career on the line. In this article, I will describe the origins, manifestations and repercussions of this puritanical moral shift, and I hope that you will see why rejecting the new orthodoxy is so crucially important. https://wokewatchcanada.substack.com/p/intimidation-masquerading-as-virtue

May 27, 2021 – Teachers are no longer told to merely advocate on behalf of very progressive ideas, which is a major problem in itself since it breaks the old traditional agreement that we do not push political ideas on our students. They have started actively subverting parental authority.

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity

Sex-Ed and Gender Identity Exemption Form

You CAN say no to gender identity theory in Canadian schools! Parents As First Educators has a page explaining the issue and has forms in English and French https://www.pafe.ca/no-git

Ally – A term used to describe someone who is actively supportive of LGBTQ+ people. It encompasses straight and cisgender allies, as well as those within the LGBTQ+ community who support each other (e.g., a lesbian who is an ally to the bisexual community).

Asexual – Often called “ace” for short, asexual refers to a complete or partial lack of sexual attraction or lack of interest in sexual activity with others. Asexuality exists on a spectrum, and asexual people may experience no, little or conditional sexual attraction.

Biphobia – The fear and hatred of, or discomfort with, people who love and are sexually attracted to more than one gender.

Bisexual – A person emotionally, romantically or sexually attracted to more than one sex, gender or gender identity though not necessarily simultaneously, in the same way or to the same degree. Sometimes used interchangeably with pansexual.

Cisgender – A term used to describe a person whose gender identity aligns with those typically associated with the sex assigned to them at birth.

Coming Out – The process in which a person first acknowledges, accepts and appreciates their sexual orientation or gender identity and begins to share that with others.

Gay – A person who is emotionally, romantically or sexually attracted to members of the same gender. Men, women and non-binary people may use this term to describe themselves.

Gender identity – One’s innermost concept of self as male, female, a blend of both or neither – how individuals perceive themselves and what they call themselves. One’s gender identity can be the same or different from their sex assigned at birth.

Gender non-conforming – A broad term referring to people who do not behave in a way that conforms to the traditional expectations of their gender, or whose gender expression does not fit neatly into a category. While many also identify as transgender, not all gender non-conforming people do.

Genderqueer – Genderqueer people typically reject notions of static categories of gender and embrace a fluidity of gender identity and often, though not always, sexual orientation. People who identify as “genderqueer” may see themselves as being both male and female, neither male nor female or as falling completely outside these categories.

Homophobia – The fear and hatred of or discomfort with people who are attracted to members of the same sex.

Intersex – Intersex people are born with a variety of differences in their sex traits and reproductive anatomy. There is a wide variety of difference among intersex variations, including differences in genitalia, chromosomes, gonads, internal sex organs, hormone production, hormone response, and/or secondary sex traits.

Gender binary – A system in which gender is constructed into two strict categories of male or female. Gender identity is expected to align with the sex assigned at birth and gender expressions and roles fit traditional expectations.

Gender dysphoria – Clinically significant distress caused when a person’s assigned birth gender is not the same as the one with which they identify.

Gender-expansive – A person with a wider, more flexible range of gender identity and/or expression than typically associated with the binary gender system. Often used as an umbrella term when referring to young people still exploring the possibilities of their gender expression and/or gender identity.

Gender expression – External appearance of one’s gender identity, usually expressed through behavior, clothing, body characteristics or voice, and which may or may not conform to socially defined behaviors and characteristics typically associated with being either masculine or feminine.

Gender-fluid – A person who does not identify with a single fixed gender or has a fluid or unfixed gender identity.

Lesbian – A woman who is emotionally, romantically or sexually attracted to other women. Women and non-binary people may use this term to describe themselves.

LGBTQ+ – An acronym for “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer” with a “+” sign to recognize the limitless sexual orientations and gender identities used by members of our community.

Non-binary – An adjective describing a person who does not identify exclusively as a man or a woman. Non-binary people may identify as being both a man and a woman, somewhere in between, or as falling completely outside these categories. While many also identify as transgender, not all non-binary people do. Non-binary can also be used as an umbrella term encompassing identities such as agender, bigender, genderqueer or gender-fluid.

Outing – Exposing someone’s lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender or gender non-binary identity to others without their permission. Outing someone can have serious repercussions on employment, economic stability, personal safety or religious or family situations.

Pansexual – Describes someone who has the potential for emotional, romantic or sexual attraction to people of any gender though not necessarily simultaneously, in the same way or to the same degree. Sometimes used inter-changeably with bisexual.

Queer – A term people often use to express a spectrum of identities and orientations that are counter to the mainstream. Queer is often used as a catch-all to include many people, including those who do not identify as exclusively straight and/or folks who have non-binary or gender-expansive identities. This term was previously used as a slur, but has been reclaimed by many parts of the LGBTQ+ movement.

Questioning – A term used to describe people who are in the process of exploring their sexual orientation or gen-der identity.

Same-gender loving – A term some prefer to use instead of lesbian, gay or bisexual to express attraction to and love of people of the same gender.

Sex assigned at birth – The sex, male, female or intersex, that a doctor or midwife uses to describe a child at birth based on their external anatomy.

Sexual orientation – An inherent or immutable enduring emotional, romantic or sexual attraction to other people. Note: an individual’s sexual orientation is independent of their gender identity.

Transgender – An umbrella term for people whose gender identity and/or expression is different from cultural expectations based on the sex they were assigned at birth. Being transgender does not imply any specific sexual orientation. Therefore, transgender people may identify as straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc.

Transitioning – A series of processes that some transgender people may undergo in order to live more fully as their true gender. This typically includes social transition, such as changing name and pronouns, medical transition, which may include hormone therapy or gender affirming surgeries, and legal transition, which may include changing legal name and sex on government identity documents. Transgender people may choose to undergo some, all or none of these processes.

Coming Out – The process in which a person first acknowledges, accepts and appreciates their sexual orientation or gender identity and begins to share that with others Gay – A person who is emotionally, romantically or sexually attracted to members of the same gender. Source: Glossary of Terms – Human Rights Campaign (hrc.org)
